Ain’t No Wino’s Here
I was going to write something about Amy Winehouse escaping drug charges, but I just can’t bring myself to that level. Anyway, mainstream media spend so much time and money on her, it’d be a shame to spend more than fifty words on the talentless soul-sucker. So I won’t.
Instead, ladies and gents; yings and yangs; woowoos and dingdongs; I present to you something on a brighter, more fun note:
First, check out this extraordinary act: Parts & Labour. I came across them whilst looking for updates on the brilliant Maps & Atlases.
They’ve got hardcore-type drumming over spacey vocals and electronics and guitars and basses. It’s all a bit unique and odd, but it’s quite dreamy and sounds great.
They’re playing the UK in mid July, and if you’re about at any of the dates, go see ‘em and report back, please. I’m tempted to venture up to
London for their gig at Corsica Studios (14th July).
Also, pop rockers Weezer are releasing their new Rick-Rubin produced red-album on 3rd June in America, updated from 24th June. Whether this will actually affect the more important European release date is unknown.
All I know is the lead single, Pork and Beans, is pretty classic Weezer sound, and therefore pretty damn great.
